Poetry about Hastings

           Hastings Cliff Railway

East hill Rock a nore,

Cable railway a local delight

Enabled locals to sore…

In awe and fright, did they alight!

In 1902 a Funicular, peculiar,

Steepest construction,

Synchronously moves, up to Hastings Country Park.

Views the Hastings fishing fleet below!

Travelling high in the cable car,

Views of local and afar.

Cinque ports viewed..

Local pride.

Grab a ride…

In equal descent we travel,

Through time we remember.

Hastings Cliff railway survived two World Wars…

Boats on Hastings Beach

Boats drifting by,

Gulls flying high..

Old Town remembered

Sailing club membered

On the beach,

Fishermen working, seagulls screech..

Locals relaxing in the pub

Holiday makers, in the club..

Hastings 1066 and all that,

Cinque Ports support combat

History we all recall

Boats on the beach, enthral.

Beach, pebbles roll with the tide,

Boats roll from side to side..

On the beach the fisherman,

Offload their catch with pride.

Boats on Hastings Beach.
